Courtney’s How To: Checking Your Tire Tread Depth
Curious about how often I need to replace my tires, I decided to ask our service department. I received the following answer:
“Tire manufacturers typically state that the tires are operating up to their specifications until the remaining tread-life (depth of remaining tire tread) is less than 3 thirty-seconds of an inch. This is where our tire measurement guide would move from classifying the tires as “green” (over 6 32/inch) to “yellow” (4-5 32/inch) to “red” (3 32/inch or less). Once tires are “in the red”, it’s time for replacement.”
