What is a Synthetic Oil Change?
Engine oil is the lifeblood of your vehicle and without the proper amount, the proper kind, or the proper quality, your Acura coupe, sedan, or SUV can begin wearing down drastically. That’s why here at our Frank Leta Acura service center in St. Louis, we can’t stress the importance of routine maintenance, and more specifically, regularly scheduled oil changes.
Of course, the type of oil that your ride requires depends primarily on your make and model, and in some cases, your vehicle may require a synthetic oil change, as opposed to a conventional oil change. There’s no need to worry, however, as synthetic oil changes are really quite similar to your conventional oil change, as a well-trained technician will drain the engine, flush out the system, and then replace the oil with a fresh batch of synthetic oil and a new filter.
Synthetic oil is typically a tad bit more expensive than conventional oil, but in most cases, it also lasts much longer and will essentially equal out or be cheaper than receiving conventional oil changes over time. If your vehicle calls for synthetic oil, you will likely need to replace the oil once every 5,000-7,000 miles or so, while conventional oil changes are recommended once every 3,000 miles. Regardless, as long as you stay up-to-date with your routine maintenance and your oil changes, your engine should stay healthy and efficient, allowing your vehicle to function properly for years to come!
